Wasted ("we," "our," or "the App") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our iOS application.

Our Core Privacy Principle: We collect, store, and process ZERO personal data. Everything stays on your device.

Information We Do NOT Collect

We want to be absolutely clear about what we don't do:

How Wasted Works

Wasted is designed with privacy at its core. Here's what happens with your data:

Local-Only Data Storage

All app data is stored exclusively on your device using:

• iOS UserDefaults: For app preferences and settings
• iOS App Group Shared Container: For communication between the main app and its extensions
• iOS Keychain (if applicable for future features): Securely stored on your device only

Your data never leaves your iPhone or iPad.

Screen Time Data

Wasted uses Apple's Screen Time API (DeviceActivity Framework) to monitor app usage:

• We request authorization to access Screen Time data
• This data is processed entirely on your device
• We only access usage information for apps YOU specifically select to monitor
• This data is used solely to trigger notifications when your usage thresholds are exceeded
• Apple's Screen Time data remains private and is never transmitted outside your device

App Selection

When you select apps to monitor:

• We store anonymous app tokens (not app names or identifiers)
• These tokens are provided by Apple's FamilyControls framework
• We cannot identify which specific apps you've selected beyond what you see in the app interface
• App tokens remain on your device and are never shared

Notifications

Wasted sends local notifications:

• Notifications are generated and delivered entirely on your device
• No notification data is sent to external servers
• Notification content is created using templates stored locally in the app
• You maintain full control over notification permissions through iOS Settings

In-App Purchases

For Premium subscriptions:

• All purchase transactions are handled directly by Apple through the App Store
• We use Apple's StoreKit framework to verify subscription status
• We offer a 14-day free trial for the yearly subscription plan
• We do NOT collect payment information
• We do NOT store purchase history
• Apple's standard privacy policy and terms apply to all transactions

We only check subscription status locally on your device to unlock Premium features.

Data Retention

Since we don't collect or transmit data:

• All data exists only on your device
• Data persists as long as the app is installed
• Deleting the app permanently removes all data
• We cannot recover your data if you delete the app

Third-Party Services

Wasted does NOT integrate with any third-party services, including:

• No analytics platforms (Google Analytics, Firebase, Mixpanel, etc.)
• No advertising networks
• No crash reporting services
• No cloud storage providers
• No social media integrations

The ONLY third party involved is:

• Apple App Store: For app distribution and in-app purchase processing (governed by Apple's Privacy Policy)

Children's Privacy

Wasted is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children. Since we don't collect any data at all, there is no risk of inadvertently collecting children's data.

Parents who wish to monitor their child's usage should use Apple's built-in Screen Time parental controls.

iOS Permissions

Wasted requests the following iOS permissions:

1. Screen Time & Family Controls

• Purpose: To monitor app usage on apps you select
• Data Access: Limited to apps you explicitly choose to track
• Data Usage: Processed locally to detect when usage thresholds are exceeded
• Data Sharing: Never shared; stays on your device

2. Notifications

• Purpose: To send you alerts when you exceed usage thresholds
• Data Access: Permission to display local notifications
• Data Usage: Notifications generated locally based on your settings
• Data Sharing: Never shared; stays on your device

3. App Groups (Technical Requirement)

• Purpose: Allows communication between the main app and background extensions
• Data Access: Shared container accessible only by Wasted app components
• Data Usage: Stores settings and usage data for notification functionality
• Data Sharing: Never leaves your device; sandboxed within Wasted app components

You can manage these permissions at any time through:
Settings → Screen Time → Wasted
Settings → Notifications → Wasted

Your Rights and Control

You have complete control over your data:

Access

Since all data is stored locally, you can:

• View all tracked apps in the Settings screen
• See your usage statistics in the Dashboard
• Review notification message templates in the Library section

Modification

You can change your data at any time:

• Change tracked apps
• Modify usage thresholds
• Update your name
• Select different notification templates

Deletion

To permanently delete all your data:

• Simply delete the Wasted app from your device
• All settings, preferences, and usage data will be immediately and permanently removed
• We cannot recover your data once the app is deleted
• You can also revoke Screen Time access in Settings → Screen Time before deletion

Data Security

While we don't transmit data, we take security seriously:

• All data is stored using iOS secure storage mechanisms (UserDefaults, Keychain)
• App components communicate through sandboxed App Group containers
• We use Apple's official APIs exclusively (DeviceActivity, FamilyControls, UserNotifications)
• No custom networking code or external connections
• App is distributed through the official Apple App Store with code signing and security reviews

International Users

Since Wasted operates entirely locally:

• No data crosses international borders
• No GDPR, CCPA, or other data protection regulations apply (we have no data to protect)
• Users worldwide enjoy the same privacy protections: complete local storage

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect:

• Changes in iOS APIs or requirements
• Addition of new features (always maintaining local-only storage)
• Clarifications based on user questions

We will notify you of significant changes through:

• An in-app notification
• App Store update notes
• Updated "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy

You can verify this using network monitoring tools. Wasted will show zero outbound connections.

Our app is closed-source, but you can verify our privacy claims by:

• Using iOS network monitoring tools (Charles Proxy, Wireshark)
• Checking iOS privacy reports (Settings → Privacy → App Privacy Report)
• Reviewing App Store privacy labels
